This lighthouse was built on land expropriated from the Marquis of Palmer and it acts as a guide for vessels in the sea channel between Majorca and Cabrera. Designed by Emili Pou, it was inaugurated in 1863, although in 1957 the tower was raised by another 6.5 metres to extend its range.
