The building that today houses the Parliament of the Balearic Islands was built in 1848 on the site of the demolished Monastery of Sant Domingo. One of its most outstanding current features is the plenary assembly hall, the Círculo Mallorquín’s former ballroom, known as Sala de Cariàtides, designed by Ricard Ankermann in Historicist style.
