Here, where Costa passed,
looked, felt, said...
between the hard pine that he envied,
the cove that smiled at him.
Here, the snout looking
to Catalonia, and to the island
the legend is moving away
and the landscape adorned.
With dreams of the sea and Lazio
and the stars of the high night.
A piece of the heart towards Horacio
and up for everything that we lack.
Here, a speech, a land,
humble hearts, auspicious autumn
forest where first April errs
and it is then cold caress.
Here, majesty, greatness
where the verse the flight rose
of all unharmed dark voice
the most bluish serenity.

(Eivissa, 1913 - 2002). Marià Villangómez was a poet, translator, essayist and playwright. He was awarded the Prize of Honour of the Catalan Letters in 1989 and is one of the most acclaimed authors of Ibiza. His poetic works depict and lend an insightinto the landscape, land, history, culture and language. He is the author of books of poems including Elegies i paisatges (1948), Sonets de Balansat (1956) and Declarat amb el vent (1963) among others.
